A Scenic Escape: Our Visit to Tyvo Overlooking Grill & Cafe in Antipolo, Rizal

Nestled amidst the rolling hills and lush greenery of Antipolo, Rizal, Tyvo Overlooking Grill & Cafe is a hidden gem that promises not just a meal, but an experience. My fiancé and I had been looking for a cozy getaway from the hustle and bustle of Metro Manila, and when we stumbled upon this charming cafe, we knew it was the perfect spot for a weekend retreat. From the moment we arrived, the combination of scenic views, inviting ambiance, and promising menu set the tone for a memorable afternoon.

Driving up the winding roads of Antipolo, we could already sense the calm that awaited us. The elevated location of Tyvo Overlooking Grill & Cafe offers a panoramic view of the city below, with rolling hills that seem to stretch endlessly, softened by a gentle breeze. The view alone felt like a reward before even stepping inside. As we parked our car, we were greeted by the rustic yet modern architecture of the cafe. Its wooden accents paired with glass walls seamlessly blended with the surrounding nature, creating a warm and welcoming environment.

Stepping into Tyvo, we were immediately drawn to the spacious layout that allows for unobstructed views from nearly every table. The decor strikes a careful balance between contemporary comfort and a casual, homey charm. Wooden tables, comfortable chairs, and soft ambient lighting create an intimate atmosphere, perfect for couples and groups alike. The outdoor seating area, however, was the highlight for us. Nestled under canopies of trees and overlooking the city below, it was easy to lose track of time just gazing at the sprawling landscape. We chose a table by the edge, eager to soak in the sunset that painted the sky in shades of pink and orange.

The menu at Tyvo Overlooking Grill & Cafe promised a variety of options, ranging from grilled specialties to light comfort food and beverages. We decided to start our meal with some appetizers and were immediately impressed by the presentation of each dish. The calamari was perfectly fried, light, and crisp without being oily, accompanied by a tangy dipping sauce that complemented the seafood beautifully. Our chicken wings, coated in a sweet and savory glaze, were tender and flavorful, making it impossible not to devour them quickly.

For our main course, we chose the grilled pork belly and the seafood platter. The pork belly was a delightful combination of crispy edges and juicy, flavorful meat, served with a side of garlicky rice and fresh vegetables. The seafood platter, on the other hand, was a feast for both the eyes and the palate. It featured a medley of shrimp, mussels, and fish, all grilled to perfection and seasoned just right. Each bite was a reminder of the care and attention Tyvo puts into its dishes. My fiancé and I couldn’t help but compliment each other on how perfect everything tasted—it was one of those meals that made us pause and truly savor every bite.

Of course, no visit to a cafe with such an enchanting view would be complete without trying their beverages. We opted for their specialty iced coffee and a refreshing calamansi cooler. The iced coffee was rich and smooth, with just the right amount of sweetness, while the calamansi cooler provided a tangy, citrusy contrast that was both invigorating and satisfying. As we sipped our drinks, we watched the sun slowly dip below the horizon, the city lights beginning to twinkle below us. It was a serene, almost magical moment that we wished could last forever.

One of the things that truly stood out during our visit was the staff’s attentive and friendly service. They were quick to assist us with recommendations, refills, and ensuring that our dining experience was smooth and comfortable. It’s rare to find a place that balances excellent food, a beautiful setting, and warm hospitality so effortlessly, but Tyvo managed to do just that.

By the end of our visit, my fiancé and I left with full stomachs and hearts lightened by the peaceful ambiance and stunning views. Tyvo Overlooking Grill & Cafe is not just a place to eat; it’s a destination to unwind, enjoy good food, and connect with loved ones while surrounded by nature’s beauty. Whether you’re a local looking for a weekend escape or a traveler seeking a quiet spot with a view, Tyvo is an ideal choice.

In summary, our experience at Tyvo Overlooking Grill & Cafe was nothing short of delightful. The combination of their flavorful dishes, serene ambiance, and breathtaking views makes it a must-visit in Antipolo. We highly recommend trying their grilled specialties and settling in early enough to catch the sunset. My fiancé and I can’t wait to return, perhaps during a different season, to experience the changing scenery and revisit the comfort of a place that feels like a home away from home.

Tyvo Overlooking Grill & Cafe is more than just a dining spot—it’s a place where memories are made, sunsets are admired, and flavors are celebrated. For anyone looking to enjoy a meal with a view that feeds both the stomach and the soul, Tyvo is the destination to be.

Cheerio!

The Greenery: Baliuag Bulacan, Philippines

I’ve been thinking about great places near the metro lately, and the first place that’ll come into mind up north is Bulacan. As to my research, Bulacan has a lot to offer as it is a historic place. In 1899, the historic Barasoain Church in Malolos was the birthplace of the First Constitutional Democracy in Asia. According to The Greenery’s website, they are located at #80 Rio Vista Subdivision, Sabang 3006 Baliuag, Bulacan. The Greenery, a wedding events place is a hub for any special occasion. Mt. Maynuba in Tanay, Rizal: Our Couple’s Hike Through Clouds, Trails, and Eight Waterfalls

When my fiancée and I decided to take a break from the usual city routine, we found ourselves drawn to Mt. Maynuba—a mountain that isn’t the tallest in the Philippines, but one that offers a surprisingly complete hiking experience. Located in Tanay, this destination is well-known among hikers for its scenic trails, famous sea of clouds, and a unique bonus: eight waterfalls along the route. From the very start, we knew this hike would be something special—and it truly delivered. First Impressions and Getting There Coming from Metro Manila, the accessibility of Mt. Maynuba is one of its biggest advantages. It’s just a few hours away, making it perfect for a day hike or a quick weekend adventure. The jump-off point is in Barangay Cayabu, where we registered, paid the environmental fee, and secured a local guide (which is required). We immediately noticed how welcoming the locals were. The community plays a big role in maintaining the trail and guiding hikers, and that added a sense of saf...

Ugbo 2.0: Our Street Food Odyssey in Sampaloc, Manila Philippines

When we first heard whispers of FUSION ALLEY Food Park Sampaloc, famously dubbed “Ugbo 2.0,” we were in different parts of Manila—some in the University Belt, others just passing by on errands—but all of us curious about the hype. The original Ugbo in Tondo had long been a food pilgrimage for adventurous eaters and night market lovers alike, with its endless rows of stalls, grilled skewers, exotic soups, and cheeky sweet treats. Now, this spirited concept has been reimagined closer to campus life, right between P. Noval and P. Campa streets in Sampaloc, just a short walk from UST and the rest of the academic hustle. From the outset, Ugbo 2.0 felt like a celebration of Filipino street food culture—but with its own Sampaloc personality. The streets come alive as the sun dips below the Manila skyline, and the aroma of sizzling grills and sweet fruit shakes fills the late-afternoon air. The first thing that strikes us when we walk along the vendors’ lane is the diversity of offerings: fami...
