The Old Grove Farmstead in Lipa City, Batangas: Complete Travel Guide, Prices, Food, Ambiance, and How to Get There

When we want to escape the busy streets of Metro Manila without traveling too far, we often look toward Batangas for a relaxing weekend destination. One place that immediately catches our attention is The Old Grove Farmstead in Lipa City, Batangas, a countryside-inspired destination known for its windmill, red barn, green surroundings, farm animals, picturesque gardens, and rustic European atmosphere.

Located in Barangay Lodlod, Lipa City, The Old Grove Farmstead has become a popular destination for families, couples, friends, photographers, and people looking for a peaceful day trip. The property combines a farm experience with dining, accommodation, recreational areas, and event facilities. The official address is Purok 5, U. Mojares Street, Barangay Lodlod, Lipa City, Batangas 4217.

If we are planning our first visit, there are several things we would want to know beforehand: How much does it cost? Is it worth the drive? What can we do there? What food should we try? And how do we get there from Manila?

Here is our complete guide to The Old Grove Farmstead.

What Is The Old Grove Farmstead?

The Old Grove Farmstead is a countryside-themed farm destination in Lipa City that gives visitors a chance to enjoy a slower and more relaxed environment. The property features several attractions and facilities, including The Windmill, The Red Barn, Harvest Cafe, The Old Grove Village, a playground, and a pool area. These facilities are listed on the farmstead's official website.

The windmill is probably the most recognizable feature of the property. For many visitors, it serves as the first major photo opportunity after entering the farmstead. The large red barn is another highlight and is also used as an event venue for occasions such as weddings and other celebrations.

The overall design combines rustic farm aesthetics with European-inspired elements. Because of the windmill, wide open spaces, fences, and red barn, many visitors describe the experience as having a "Netherlands" or European countryside feel.

We would not describe it as a traditional agricultural farm where visitors simply observe farming activities. Instead, it is better understood as a farm-themed leisure destination where we can enjoy the scenery, interact with selected animals, dine, take photographs, relax, and potentially stay overnight.

The Ambiance: Peaceful, Rustic, and Very Photogenic

The biggest attraction for us would probably be the ambiance.

The Old Grove Farmstead is designed around open spaces, greenery, rustic structures, and countryside scenery. Recent visitors have highlighted the peaceful atmosphere, animal areas, hanging bridge, pond, gardens, and wide spaces around the property.

The scenery makes the destination particularly attractive for photography. We can take pictures around the windmill, red barn, pond, bridge, gardens, and other structures.

For couples, the location can also work well for romantic photos and pre-wedding shoots. The combination of greenery and European-inspired architecture creates a different backdrop from the usual cafés and urban restaurants.

For families with children, the farm environment offers something different from a regular restaurant or resort. Visitors have reported seeing sheep, ducks, chickens, fish, and other animals. Animal feed has also been available for guests who want to feed some of the animals. One recent visitor reported purchasing food for the sheep and ducks.

The property also has a playground and pool area, making it more suitable for families than a destination that is purely focused on photography.

What Can We Do at The Old Grove Farmstead?

One of the best things about visiting is simply walking around and exploring.

1. Take Photos at the Windmill

The windmill is one of the farmstead's signature landmarks. We would recommend making this one of our first photo stops, especially if we arrive earlier when the area may feel more relaxed.

2. Visit the Red Barn

The large red barn is another major attraction. Its appearance is one of the reasons the farmstead has become recognizable on social media. The barn also functions as an event venue, including weddings and other celebrations.

3. See and Feed the Farm Animals

Depending on the activities available during our visit, we may be able to interact with animals such as sheep and ducks. Recent visitor reports mention animal feed being available for purchase, with one report citing around ₱100 for animal food. Since activity fees can change, we recommend confirming the current price when booking.

4. Walk Across the Hanging Bridge

The hanging bridge is another interesting feature of the property. Beyond being an activity, it also provides another scenic area for photographs.

5. Enjoy the Pool and Playground

Families can also spend time around the pool and playground areas. The official website lists both facilities among the farmstead's attractions.

6. Eat at Harvest Cafe

After walking around the farm, we can head to Harvest Cafe for a meal. The cafe provides both indoor and outdoor dining areas, according to visitor accounts.

How Much Is The Old Grove Farmstead?

This is one area where we need to be careful because The Old Grove Farmstead's rates have changed over the years, and different websites still show older prices.

Older published guides reported day-tour packages beginning at approximately ₱600 per adult for breakfast and ₱800 per adult for lunch or dinner, with separate rates for children. Another 2022 visitor report listed weekday packages at ₱750 for breakfast, ₱950 for lunch/dinner, and higher prices for combined meal packages.

More recent 2026 visitor reporting indicates that pricing has changed again. One March 2026 report described an updated admission arrangement in which part of the payment could be used as a restaurant consumable, while also noting that prices had increased from the author's earlier visit.

Because of these changes, we would not rely on the older ₱600, ₱750, or ₱950 figures when planning our current budget. The safest approach is to contact the farmstead directly for the current day-tour, meal, overnight, and activity rates.

The official reservation page currently shows separate reservation periods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while the official contact page provides the farmstead's reservation number: 0917 895 2829.

What Food Should We Try?

Food is an important part of the Old Grove Farmstead experience because the visit can be combined with a meal at Harvest Cafe.

Recent visitor reports give us several dishes to look for.

One of the more recent 2026 reviews specifically praised the Kansi, describing it as flavorful and generously portioned. The same visit included Chicken Roulade and Roasted Beef Ribs, which were also positively described.

Earlier visitors also mentioned dishes such as:

  • Prawn Thermidor
  • Rib Eye Steak
  • T-Bone Steak
  • Batangas Classic Bulalo
  • Crispy Kangkong
  • Egg Soup
  • Graham dessert

These were reported as part of previous set menus, so we should remember that the menu can change.

If we are visiting specifically for food, Kansi, roasted beef ribs, chicken dishes, and the Batangas-style Bulalo would be among the dishes we would ask about first based on recent and previous visitor reports.

For steak lovers, older visitors also specifically recommended the steak offerings.

How to Get to The Old Grove Farmstead from Manila

The Old Grove Farmstead is located at Purok 5, U. Mojares Street, Barangay Lodlod, Lipa City, Batangas.

By Private Car

For us, driving would be the most convenient option.

From Metro Manila, we can take SLEX and continue toward the STAR Tollway, then head toward Lipa City. We should use the exact farmstead location in Waze or Google Maps because the property is not directly along the main highway.

Older travel guides recommend using the Tambo Exit and continuing toward the farm area before following local roads toward Barangay Lodlod.

Because road conditions and recommended routes can change, navigation apps are preferable to relying solely on older written directions.

By Public Transportation

Commuting is possible, although it requires more transfers.

One commonly reported route is to take a bus from Manila/PITX toward Lipa, get off around SM City Lipa, and then arrange a tricycle or local transportation to Barangay Lodlod.

Some older guides also describe taking a Batangas-bound bus and getting off around the Tambo area before taking a tricycle toward the farmstead.

For convenience, we would recommend checking the latest bus routes and fares before leaving Manila because public transportation schedules and fares can change.

Do We Need a Reservation?

Yes, we strongly recommend making a reservation before visiting.

The official website provides a reservation system with designated breakfast, lunch, and dinner periods.

Previous visitors have also reported that the farmstead can become fully booked, particularly on weekends, and that walk-ins are discouraged or may not be guaranteed. Older reports also mention a 50% down payment for reservations.

Before traveling, we should contact the farmstead directly and confirm:

  • Current entrance/day-tour price
  • Current meal packages
  • Number of guests allowed
  • Reservation availability
  • Current animal-feeding fees
  • Pool availability
  • Overnight accommodation rates
  • Current operating hours
  • Payment and cancellation policies

The official contact number is 0917 895 2829.

Is The Old Grove Farmstead Worth Visiting?

For us, the appeal of The Old Grove Farmstead is less about having dozens of activities and more about the overall countryside experience.

We get a combination of scenery, dining, animals, photography areas, recreational facilities, and a relaxing atmosphere in one destination. The windmill and red barn provide the visual highlights, while the animals, gardens, pond, bridge, cafe, pool, and playground give us additional things to explore.

We should also set our expectations correctly. This is not an amusement park packed with rides and attractions. Some visitors have noted that much of the experience revolves around walking, sightseeing, photography, eating, and relaxing.

That can actually be its strength for people who want a slower day.

Final Thoughts

When we look for a Batangas day trip from Manila, The Old Grove Farmstead in Lipa City stands out because it offers a distinctive countryside setting without requiring an international trip. The windmill, red barn, green spaces, farm animals, hanging bridge, cafe, pool, and village-style accommodations create a destination that works particularly well for families, couples, groups of friends, and photography enthusiasts.

The most important thing we would remember is to reserve ahead and verify the current rates. Published prices from previous years vary considerably, while more recent reports indicate that rates have changed. The official website currently lists the farmstead's reservation periods and contact information, making direct confirmation the best way to get the latest price before our trip.

For food, we would ask about the Kansi, roasted beef ribs, chicken dishes, Bulalo, and steak selections, while remembering that the menu may change. Recent visitor feedback particularly highlights Kansi, chicken roulade, and roasted beef ribs.

Overall, The Old Grove Farmstead gives us a chance to slow down, enjoy nature, take plenty of photographs, eat a good meal, and spend quality time with family or friends. If our idea of a perfect weekend escape is a peaceful farm atmosphere with beautiful scenery rather than a packed itinerary, The Old Grove Farmstead in Lipa City, Batangas is a destination worth putting on our travel list.

See you on our next adventure!
