Celebrating New Year at The Pina Colina Resort in Tagaytay

It has been another year, my family and I wanted to celebrate the New Year somewhere refreshing, relaxing and peaceful ;-)

We have searched places where we can spend our New Year celebration and our escapades pointed us in the right direction; The Piña Colina Resort in Tagaytay.

Specifically located at Tolentino Ulat Road, Barangay Francisco, Santa Rosa - Tagaytay Rd, Tagaytay, Cavite, Piña Colina Resort is one of the more popular family-friendly resort destinations in Tagaytay City. As the name implies, Piña Colina is located atop a hill, with pineapple plantations and lush greens across the landscape.

This delightful Tagaytay hideaway has several log cabins, casitas, and suites available for accommodations.  While the establishment has its own restaurant that serves meals, guests may bring in their own food, drinks, and snacks corkage-free.

They have swimming pools there, though the water is freezing cold as it is still Tagaytay after all, you can still enjoy a good swim ;-) Use of the pools at Piña Colina is free for stay-in guests. The pools are open to the public, so you can use them for a fee if you aren’t sleeping over at the resort.

The adult pool is 4 to 5.5 feet deep, while the kiddie pool is 2 to 3 feet deep. Kids using the pool must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

What more exciting is that they have an elevated Jacuzzi.

The resort has an elevated jacuzzi that gives you a beautiful view of Tagaytay. It can accommodate up to ten people. If you plan to stay there, advice the reception at least an hour before so they can prepare the Jacuzzi for you. Again, it is freezing cold so an hour at the Jacuzzi is soooooooo refreshing.

Piña Colina is currently beefing up its other on-ground facilities, including a game room with a billiard table, Ping-Pong table, and video games, an obstacle course for team-building sessions, inflatables, a trampoline, as well as areas for basketball and volleyball.

If you’re planning to visit The Piña Colina Resort, there are number of ways to get there:

When you see the big, green Tagaytay Haven Hotel signage, turn right on the road just before the signage. There is a blue & yellow waiting shed on the corner.

After turning right on this road (Ulat road), go straight until you hit a road on the left. Turn left on this road. It’s an uphill climb going to Piña Colina resort which is on the left side.

The Greenery: Baliuag Bulacan, Philippines

I’ve been thinking about great places near the metro lately, and the first place that’ll come into mind up north is Bulacan. As to my research, Bulacan has a lot to offer as it is a historic place. In 1899, the historic Barasoain Church in Malolos was the birthplace of the First Constitutional Democracy in Asia. Have you gone to the Philippines and have the great chance to taste our famous Sisig? If not, you’ve probably lost 25 percent of experiencing the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” tag line ;-) Sisig is a Filipino dish made from parts of pig’s head and liver, usually seasoned with calamansi and chili peppers. A lot of sisig cook here in the country claims that the best sisig one can make is from the ‘Maskara’ or the skin of the pig’s face after you cook it as Lechon. Sisig was first mentioned in a Kapampangan dictionary in the 17th Century meaning "to snack on something sour". It usually refers to fruits, often unripe or half-ripe, sometimes dipped in salt and vinegar. It also refers to a method of preparing fish and meat, especially pork, which is marinated in a sour liquid such as lemon juice or vinegar, then seasoned with salt, pepper and other spices.
