Celebrating New Year at The Pina Colina Resort in Tagaytay

It has been another year, my family and I wanted to celebrate the New Year somewhere refreshing, relaxing and peaceful ;-)

We have searched places where we can spend our New Year celebration and our escapades pointed us in the right direction; The Piña Colina Resort in Tagaytay.

Specifically located at Tolentino Ulat Road, Barangay Francisco, Santa Rosa - Tagaytay Rd, Tagaytay, Cavite, Piña Colina Resort is one of the more popular family-friendly resort destinations in Tagaytay City. As the name implies, Piña Colina is located atop a hill, with pineapple plantations and lush greens across the landscape.

This delightful Tagaytay hideaway has several log cabins, casitas, and suites available for accommodations.  While the establishment has its own restaurant that serves meals, guests may bring in their own food, drinks, and snacks corkage-free.

They have swimming pools there, though the water is freezing cold as it is still Tagaytay after all, you can still enjoy a good swim ;-) Use of the pools at Piña Colina is free for stay-in guests. The pools are open to the public, so you can use them for a fee if you aren’t sleeping over at the resort.

The adult pool is 4 to 5.5 feet deep, while the kiddie pool is 2 to 3 feet deep. Kids using the pool must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

What more exciting is that they have an elevated Jacuzzi.

The resort has an elevated jacuzzi that gives you a beautiful view of Tagaytay. It can accommodate up to ten people. If you plan to stay there, advice the reception at least an hour before so they can prepare the Jacuzzi for you. Again, it is freezing cold so an hour at the Jacuzzi is soooooooo refreshing.

Piña Colina is currently beefing up its other on-ground facilities, including a game room with a billiard table, Ping-Pong table, and video games, an obstacle course for team-building sessions, inflatables, a trampoline, as well as areas for basketball and volleyball.

If you’re planning to visit The Piña Colina Resort, there are number of ways to get there:

Through Public Transport Via Aguinaldo Highway

From Manila, take a bus (Baclaran-Roxas Blvd., Cubao, Pasay, etc.) going to Tagaytay Rotunda/Olivarez via Aguinaldo Highway.

From Tagaytay Rotunda / Olivarez, take a jeepney going to City Market in the corner of Calamba Road and Sta. Rosa Highway. (Or from Tagaytay Rotunda / Olivarez, you can already take a tricycle directly to Pina Colina Resort. The tricycle fare is around P60.)

From the City Market, take a tricycle going to Pina Colina which is about 5 minutes away.

Through Private Transportation via SLEX

From the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), take the Sta. Rosa exit. Turn right after the toll booths going to Tagaytay.

After 20 – 25 minutes, along Sta. Rosa – Tagaytay Highway, slow down after you pass Ming’s Garden on the right side of the road. Drive for about 350 meters more.

When you see the big, green Tagaytay Haven Hotel signage, turn right on the road just before the signage. There is a blue & yellow waiting shed on the corner.

After turning right on this road (Ulat road), go straight until you hit a road on the left. Turn left on this road. It’s an uphill climb going to Piña Colina resort which is on the left side.

Through Private Transportation via Aguinaldo Highway

From Manila, take the Coastal Road going to Tagaytay via Aguinaldo Highway. You will traverse through Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas, Silang, all in Cavite. The drive will be for an hour to an hour & a half.

When you reach the Tagaytay Rotunda near Olivarez, turn left going to Picnic Grove, Tagaytay Highlands or People’s Park.

Along that road, when you hit the traffic light with Tagaytay Econo Hotel on the right and Tagaytay City Market on the left, turn left on Sta. Rosa Highway.

When you see the big, green Tagaytay Haven Hotel signage, turn left on the road just after the signage with a waiting shed on the corner.

Go straight on this road until you hit the first road on the left. Turn left on this road. It’s an uphill climb going to Piña Colina resort which is on the left side.

The Greenery: Baliuag Bulacan, Philippines

I’ve been thinking about great places near the metro lately, and the first place that’ll come into mind up north is Bulacan. As to my research, Bulacan has a lot to offer as it is a historic place. In 1899, the historic Barasoain Church in Malolos was the birthplace of the First Constitutional Democracy in Asia. ILove Adventours allowed me to tag along as they schedule an ocular inspection on one of their target destination to promote on their day tour, The Greenery . According to The Greenery’s website, they are located at #80 Rio Vista Subdivision, Sabang 3006 Baliuag, Bulacan. The Greenery, a wedding events place is a hub for any special occasion. It has three theme-based venues that can accommodate the creativity of the bride and groom in creating their perfect event. The three venues are: Pavilion, Lighthouse and Open garden . The pavilion has a grand ballroom for an elegant setting. The lighthouse is located by the river for couples that like the water and a cool breeze f...

Mt. Maynuba in Tanay, Rizal: Our Couple’s Hike Through Clouds, Trails, and Eight Waterfalls

When my fiancée and I decided to take a break from the usual city routine, we found ourselves drawn to Mt. Maynuba—a mountain that isn’t the tallest in the Philippines, but one that offers a surprisingly complete hiking experience. Located in Tanay, this destination is well-known among hikers for its scenic trails, famous sea of clouds, and a unique bonus: eight waterfalls along the route. From the very start, we knew this hike would be something special—and it truly delivered. First Impressions and Getting There Coming from Metro Manila, the accessibility of Mt. Maynuba is one of its biggest advantages. It’s just a few hours away, making it perfect for a day hike or a quick weekend adventure. The jump-off point is in Barangay Cayabu, where we registered, paid the environmental fee, and secured a local guide (which is required). We immediately noticed how welcoming the locals were. The community plays a big role in maintaining the trail and guiding hikers, and that added a sense of saf...

Ugbo 2.0: Our Street Food Odyssey in Sampaloc, Manila Philippines

When we first heard whispers of FUSION ALLEY Food Park Sampaloc, famously dubbed “Ugbo 2.0,” we were in different parts of Manila—some in the University Belt, others just passing by on errands—but all of us curious about the hype. The original Ugbo in Tondo had long been a food pilgrimage for adventurous eaters and night market lovers alike, with its endless rows of stalls, grilled skewers, exotic soups, and cheeky sweet treats. Now, this spirited concept has been reimagined closer to campus life, right between P. Noval and P. Campa streets in Sampaloc, just a short walk from UST and the rest of the academic hustle. From the outset, Ugbo 2.0 felt like a celebration of Filipino street food culture—but with its own Sampaloc personality. The streets come alive as the sun dips below the Manila skyline, and the aroma of sizzling grills and sweet fruit shakes fills the late-afternoon air. The first thing that strikes us when we walk along the vendors’ lane is the diversity of offerings: fami...

If you're looking for a mountain that offers breathtaking views without requiring an exhausting climb, Mount Gulugod Baboy in Mabini, Batangas should definitely be on your list. My fiancée and I have always enjoyed exploring destinations that combine nature, adventure, and beautiful scenery, and this mountain turned out to be one of our favorite day hikes. From its rolling grasslands to its panoramic summit overlooking Batangas Bay and nearby islands, Mount Gulugod Baboy offers an unforgettable experience for both first-time and experienced hikers. Despite its funny name, which translates to "Pig's Spine" because of the shape of its ridgeline, Mount Gulugod Baboy is one of the most accessible hiking destinations in Southern Luzon. Standing at approximately 525 meters above sea level, it is considered one of the best beginner-friendly mountains in the Philippines. The mountain is located in Mabini, Batangas, a municipality also known for its world-class diving sites in...
