The Kubo Grill at Balaoan, La Union

Having an adventure up north always includes looking for a great place to eat. Depends on how adventurous one is, sometimes, you have to try to take a hard right hoping to find something interesting.

After a great escapade somewhere in Ilocos Norte, we’re bound to Manila when we decided to look for a place to, not just to eat (we are starving after a 4-hour drive, we’re somewhere between Bacnotan and Luna, La Union) but to unwind and enjoy an open field scenery as we find it so relaxing.

As we reach Balaoan Municipal Hall, (you will not miss this structure as it is massive compared to every establishment in the area) it is situated on the right side of Manila North Road if you’re Manila bound, we turn left on Balaoan Road, that road is in front of the Municipal Hall. Along Balaoan Road, you will see a simple establishment, the Kubo Grill, on the right side of the road guided by a huge tarpaulin sign that features all the food they can offer.

Surprisingly, they offer a wide variety of food, and to our amazement, when we reach the place, all we have ordered are available.

We tried their version of Sisig, Dinakdakan, Inasal, Lechon Kawali and their amazing Halo-Halo. We are very satisfied for every meal we’ve consumed, the serving, the taste, how fast they serve the food, the presentation and the warm conversation with Ate Josephine, and she prepares and cooks everything for us along with only one companion.

So, if you’re decided to explore La Union, you might want to consider visiting Kubo Grill. Another foodtrip place besides Halo-Halo de Iloko. They are located within Barangay Bulbulala, Balaoan, La Union. If so happen that you’re more than 4 people, we suggest that you call them beforehand to prepare your food much faster when you get there.

That Halo-Halo is just so tempting!!!

Cheerio!

The Greenery: Baliuag Bulacan, Philippines

I’ve been thinking about great places near the metro lately, and the first place that’ll come into mind up north is Bulacan. As to my research, Bulacan has a lot to offer as it is a historic place. In 1899, the historic Barasoain Church in Malolos was the birthplace of the First Constitutional Democracy in Asia. ILove Adventours allowed me to tag along as they schedule an ocular inspection on one of their target destination to promote on their day tour, The Greenery . According to The Greenery’s website, they are located at #80 Rio Vista Subdivision, Sabang 3006 Baliuag, Bulacan. The Greenery, a wedding events place is a hub for any special occasion. It has three theme-based venues that can accommodate the creativity of the bride and groom in creating their perfect event. The three venues are: Pavilion, Lighthouse and Open garden . The pavilion has a grand ballroom for an elegant setting. The lighthouse is located by the river for couples that like the water and a cool breeze f

Mt. Ulap: A Guide for First Timers

I spent my online time mostly on social media. Every now and then, I find a group of people posting their travel getaways. The pictures are amazing, so breathtaking that I wanted to go there myself ;-) As my curiosity tickles me in the right places, I began to follow some of those posts and it seems that, being a JOINER is a fad nowadays. Without any hesitation, I began to search for a group who will be travelling somewhere north, I will ask them if they can allow me to join their trip. One Facebook page help me to gather a group, and with a little chitchat, a little confirmation, 15 strangers decided to trek Mt. Ulap. I had to write these experiences so that many like me, a self-proclaimed adventurous, will have a little guide on what to expect, what to bring, what to wear and how much will it cost to travel somewhere gorgeous. 15 people meet up at Quezon Avenue corner EDSA late at night around 10 PM. We expect to be at Barangay Ampucao Itogon Benguet as early as possible,

Have you been to Batangas? I have been there so many times already and yet, there are still a lot of great places there to visit. As my being adventurous to seek places aroused me big time, I decided to again, join with strangers to visit say, 3 nice locations within Batangas proper. We decided to have a day tour at The Marian Orchard and The Cintai Corito’s Garden both in Balete, and The Shercon Resort in Mataas na Kahoy. Batangas, officially known as the Province of Batangas (Filipino: Lalawigan ng Batangas) is a province in the Philippines located in the Calabarzon region in Luzon.
