A Sweet Escape: Our Memorable Visit to Lomboy Grape Farm in Bauang, La Union Philippines

Traveling has always been one of our favorite ways to relax, reconnect, and create unforgettable memories together. As a couple who enjoys discovering unique destinations in the Philippines, my fiancé and I recently decided to visit the famous Lomboy Grape Farm in Bauang, La Union. Known for its lush grape vineyards and charming countryside vibe, the farm promised a refreshing experience away from the busy city. Our visit turned out to be both relaxing and exciting, making it a destination we would highly recommend for couples, families, and friends looking for a simple yet meaningful getaway.

Getting There: A Smooth and Scenic Journey

Our journey to Lomboy Grape Farm was fairly straightforward. Located in Bauang, La Union, the farm is accessible whether you’re coming from Metro Manila or nearby provinces. We traveled by car, which made the trip more convenient and flexible for us. From Manila, we took the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), connected to TPLEX, and followed the route going to Bauang, La Union. The drive took roughly five to six hours, depending on traffic and stopovers. Along the way, we enjoyed scenic views of mountains, coastal highways, and small provincial towns that added excitement to our trip.

For travelers who prefer public transportation, buses bound for La Union are available from several terminals in Metro Manila. Once arriving in Bauang, visitors can ride a tricycle or jeepney to reach Lomboy Grape Farm. We noticed that the locals were familiar with the destination, making it easy for tourists to ask for directions. The road leading to the farm was relatively easy to navigate, and signages helped guide us to the entrance.

First Impressions of the Farm

Upon arriving at Lomboy Grape Farm, we were immediately welcomed by rows of neatly aligned grape vines stretching across the property. The atmosphere was calm, fresh, and inviting, making us feel like we stepped into a different environment away from urban stress. The farm itself was well-maintained, and we appreciated how organized the vineyard layout was. The sight of hanging grape clusters was truly fascinating, especially since grape farming is not very common in the Philippines.

The farm had a rustic and natural charm that made the experience feel authentic. Wooden structures, simple walkways, and open vineyard spaces gave us plenty of areas to explore and take photos. The environment felt peaceful, and the fresh provincial air added to the relaxing ambiance.

Staff and Customer Experience

During our visit, we encountered staff members who were friendly and approachable. They greeted visitors warmly and were willing to answer questions about grape farming and harvesting. Although the farm maintained a simple setup, we could see that they prioritized assisting visitors and ensuring everyone enjoyed their stay.

We appreciated how the staff explained basic farm rules, such as proper handling of grapes and designated areas for picking. Their guidance helped maintain the quality of the farm while still allowing visitors to have fun. We also noticed that they were patient when assisting guests who were experiencing grape picking for the first time.

Activities We Enjoyed

One of the main highlights of visiting Lomboy Grape Farm was the grape picking activity. My fiancé and I were both excited to try harvesting grapes directly from the vines. The experience felt rewarding because we were able to handpick fresh grapes while learning how they are grown and maintained. The grapes were sweet, juicy, and incredibly fresh compared to store-bought ones.

Aside from grape picking, we spent time exploring the vineyard and taking photos. The farm is very photogenic, especially with the vibrant green vines and colorful grape clusters. Couples, families, and groups of friends will definitely enjoy capturing memorable pictures in the scenic surroundings. My fiancé and I found several picturesque spots where we took photos together, making the trip even more special for us.

Another activity visitors can enjoy is simply relaxing and appreciating the countryside atmosphere. The farm allows guests to walk around, observe grape cultivation, and learn more about local agriculture. For us, this was a refreshing experience because it gave us the opportunity to slow down and enjoy nature.

The farm also sells fresh grapes and grape-based products. We made sure to purchase some fresh grapes to take home as souvenirs and gifts for our loved ones. Supporting local farmers made our visit feel even more meaningful.

Overall Experience and Recommendations

Our visit to Lomboy Grape Farm was truly enjoyable and memorable. The combination of scenic landscapes, hands-on activities, and relaxing surroundings made it a worthwhile destination. We appreciated how the farm offered a simple yet unique experience that allowed us to appreciate local agriculture and provincial life.

For visitors planning to go, we would recommend visiting during the grape harvesting season to fully experience grape picking. Wearing comfortable clothing and footwear is also important since visitors will be walking around the vineyard. Bringing sun protection such as hats, umbrellas, or sunscreen is advisable because most areas are outdoors.

We also suggest arriving early to avoid crowds and to fully enjoy the farm at a relaxed pace. Bringing a camera or smartphone is highly recommended because the farm provides plenty of beautiful photo opportunities.

A Trip Worth Remembering

Visiting Lomboy Grape Farm allowed my fiancé and I to share a unique and meaningful travel experience together. It was more than just a sightseeing trip; it was an opportunity for us to learn, relax, and appreciate nature’s simple beauty. The farm’s welcoming environment and engaging activities made the visit truly special for us.

For anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway in La Union, Lomboy Grape Farm is definitely worth adding to your travel list. Our trip reminded us that sometimes, the best adventures are found in places where we can slow down, connect with nature, and create lasting memories with the people we love.

Ugbo 2.0: Our Street Food Odyssey in Sampaloc, Manila Philippines

When we first heard whispers of FUSION ALLEY Food Park Sampaloc, famously dubbed “Ugbo 2.0,” we were in different parts of Manila—some in the University Belt, others just passing by on errands—but all of us curious about the hype. The original Ugbo in Tondo had long been a food pilgrimage for adventurous eaters and night market lovers alike, with its endless rows of stalls, grilled skewers, exotic soups, and cheeky sweet treats. Now, this spirited concept has been reimagined closer to campus life, right between P. Noval and P. Campa streets in Sampaloc, just a short walk from UST and the rest of the academic hustle. From the outset, Ugbo 2.0 felt like a celebration of Filipino street food culture—but with its own Sampaloc personality. The streets come alive as the sun dips below the Manila skyline, and the aroma of sizzling grills and sweet fruit shakes fills the late-afternoon air. The first thing that strikes us when we walk along the vendors’ lane is the diversity of offerings: fami...
